Google Images results will now show useful information as captions on mobile

Google Images has seen a few updates and changes as of late. Last month, to the dismay of many people, they removed the direct link to images as part of a new Getty Images licensing deal. Today, instead of removing features, Google is adding more information to Image results in the form of captions.

The new captions appear above the domain address in bold text. They simply show the title of the webpage where the image is from. This extra context makes it easier to know when you found the right image. You may also decide to visit the webpage to see extra images and learn more. It’s essentially a way to infuse regular Search results with the Image results.

This week we’re adding captions to image results, showing you the title of the web page where each image is published. This extra piece of information gives you more context so you can easily find out what the image is about and whether the website would contain more relevant content for your needs.

Image captions are rolling out globally starting this week for the Google app (Android and iOS) and mobile browsers.
